Use cases

• Out-of-the-box KYC service: zerohash embeds all compliance and regulatory requirements in the KYC flow so you can focus on acquiring new end users. The zerohash compliance team handles manual reviews.
• Sensitive data handling: zerohash collects sensitive end user information, including date of birth, address, SSN, and ID information, directly so you do not need to store that data.
• Managed onboarding requirements: Integrate the low-code KYC flow; zerohash updates the experience as onboarding requirements change.

Key features

• Required data collection: All information that must be verified is asked for. zerohash never requires more information than necessary.
• Intelligent fallback options: zerohash attempts to verify the end user with only required information. If results are inconclusive, we automatically request more information to increase potential for higher approval rates.
• Built-in tax certification: zerohash collects the U.S. tax certification (W-9 or W-8BEN) in the same session, with one checkbox. End users who are already onboarded can complete it later with tax_only. See Tax Data Collection - KYCaaS.
• Customizable screens: Update colors and fonts to match existing user experiences.

Profile management

To let end users view or update their profile information, start the flow with the update-participant JWT permission. End users then select Access Profile on the Approved page.

Choose an onboarding flow

When you open the Onboarding SDK, you can choose one of three flows:

• full_with_tax (default): full onboarding, with the tax certification.
• full_without_tax: full onboarding, without the tax certification.
• tax_only: the tax certification only, for end users who are already onboarded

Your account team turns on the new flows for your platform and confirms which flow applies to you. For details, see User Onboarding and Tax Data Collection - KYCaaS.

Implementation details

1. Acquire an onboarding access token.
2. Integrate the SDK:
   1. Install the zh-web-sdk NPM package. To choose an onboarding flow, use version 3.12.0 or later.
   2. Follow the SDK modules reference.
3. Choose the onboarding flow with your account team. See Choose an onboarding flow.
